Joyce Ann McCracken Thompson McMinn born Oct. 3, 1937, died May 13, 2008. Joyce was born to Clyde F. McCracken and Louetta L. Roney McCracken in Chillicothe, Livingston County, Mo. Joyce was the second child, first girl, born in a line of seven children, five boys and two girls.
Joyce was schooled in Dixon, Mo., Chillicothe, Mo., Albany, Mo. and McClave, Colo. She attended college in Grand Junction.
She was a seamstress by trade. Her furniture, clothes and needle work was superb and in high demand.
Joyce lived  in Missouri, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, California, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. She moved around because her first and second husbands worked in the oil fields and mines.
Joyce met and married Raymond E. Thompson in 1958 in Rangely. To this union were born four children, three boys and one girl. This marriage ended in divorce. She then married Ralph W. McMinn in Grand Junction. There were no children from this union.
Joyce is survived by husband Ralph W. McMinn of the home in Aztec, N.M.; a son Raymond E. Thompson Jr., San Angelo, Texas; a daughter, Shirly Jo Noland (James) Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Steven Thompson (Pattie) San Angelo, Texas; a son, Doyal Scott Thompson McMinn (Tammie), Bloomfield, N.M.; three brothers, Clyde R. McCraken, Macon, Mo., Paul L. McCraken (Waltrand)(Trudy), Rangely, William E. “Bill” McCracken (Lorna), Thornton and eight grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Clyde F. and Louetta L. McCracken; both sets of in-laws Clyde and Eueletta Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. McKinn; brothers, George Raymond and Clarence L. McCracken; sister Alma Sharon Mott, sister-in-law Linda McCracken and brother-in-law Albert Mott.
A dinner was held honoring her in Vernal, Utah on May 14, 2008. Another dinner was held honoring her in Bloomfield, N.M.
Joyce’s wish was to be cremated and her ashes scattered on Red Mountain, Silverton, Colo. Her final wish was carried out on May 24, 2008.
