Joyce Marilyn (Nilson) Schnackenberg-Brower
April 13, 1925 ~ May 11, 2019
Joyce Brower, 94, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2019, from a stroke she suffered on May 6, 2019.
Joyce was born in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from South High School. She met Karl Schnackenberg on a blind date and they were married on April 30, 1944. They were parents to Ed (deceased, 2014), Gerry, Bob and Bonnie. The family enjoyed skiing, camping, fishing and hiking. Joyce worked as a bookkeeper, then as secretary to the principal of the Steamboat High School from 1965-1973. Following the death of Karl in 1970, Joyce married Mel Brower in 1973, moving to Meeker, then Grand Junction. Widowed again in 2007, Joyce moved to Longmont to be closer to her children. At the age of 82, she exercised at the YMCA; tap danced at the Senior Center, played golf and would attend monthly social luncheons with the women in her neighborhood.
Joyce was a woman of unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus, and was the heart of the Schnackenberg/Florquist families. She attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Steamboat, then Epiphany Anglican in Longmont, where she helped with altar guild. Her cookies and sweet breads were requested from many people, which she would graciously give to anyone who asked. Her radiant smile, prayers for her family and spreading joy to all she met will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, Longmont. A reception will follow the services.
