Ken went to his heavenly home surrounded by his beloved family at Swedish Hospital in Denver. He was born to his parents, Harry Leff and Gertrude (Meester) Leff in Fairbury, Neb.
The family lived in Fairfield, Neb., until 1951, when they moved to Elizabeth, Colo., for a short time and then on to Meeker, Colo., where Ken was graduated from Meeker High School in 1956.
Ken joined the Navy right out of high school and served his country until August 1959.
He married hometown sweetheart Deloris Calkins on Aug. 8, 1959. This marriage lasted until his death. Ken and new bride Deloris moved to Englewood, Colo., after they married. Ken worked as an electrician until 1960, when he joined the Englewood Police Department. After a successful 26 years, he retired as a sergeant in 1986.
Ken then was a private investigator until his death.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; older brother Doyle in 1986; and a granddaughter, Brooke.
He is survived by: his children, Tim Leff (Andrea) of Meeker, Brenda Callaway of Englewood, Christine Smith (Rick) of North Platte, Neb.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Hall of Vernal, Utah; twin brother Eldon Leff (Elaine) of Canon City, Colo., and multiple nieces, nephews, etc.
Ken was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, trap shooter and four-wheeler. He was also a devoted member of the Retired Police Officers Association. He will be greatly missed by his entire family and many friends.
Friends and family are invited to Kenny’s memorial service on Friday, April 17, 2015, at noon at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary at 6600 S. Colorado Blvd. in Centennial. He will be laid to rest with United States Navy Honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 3 p.m.
