Larry Dean Petty, 57, was born Nov. 18, 1958, and he passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016.
Larry was born in Farmington, Iowa, and died at Rangely, Colo., of a sudden heart attack on his way to work.
Larry had two sons, Bo and Terrell Petty, and he is survived by Terrell Petty. Bo preceded him in death in 2015. Larry also has six brothers who survive him.
Larry served our country for four years as a military policeman in the United States Marine Corps.
Larry came to Rangely in 1992 and has worked in the oil fields and was known by many as the “Butcher at Nichols Market.” He was also employed at White River Market.
Larry will be missed by his family and many close friends from the Rangely area. He was always available to lend a hand to help others.
He was a member of Rangely Elks Lodge No. 1907 and he donated hundreds of hours serving many youth and charitable functions. Larry enjoyed delivering Christmas baskets with the Rangely Elks Lodge, and he enjoyed fishing the “Great White River.”
Cremation has taken place by Brown Cremation and and a funeral service and will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday Feb. 21, 2016 at the Rangely Elks Lodge.
