Mary Alice Patton was born in Vernal, Utah, on June 4, 1921, to Vinnie Miller and Leroy Lee. She was their sixth child out of 10. Her family called her Pudge.
Mary was graduated from Uintah High School in 1939. She met and married the love of her life, Curtis McCoy Patton, in 1941. They had three children: Lynda Lee, Curtis Michael and Jerrold McCoy Patton.
The family moved in 1949 to Rangely, Colo., where their youngest son was born. Mary’s beloved husband died in 1971 and her sweet daughter, Lynda, in 1980. She raised Lynda’s daughter, Curtina, after her death.
Mary worked at Nichols Store for 40 years. She didn’t retire until 2013, when she was 92. She had many good friends there. In her spare time, Mary liked to sew, quilt and read.
Mary passed away on Aug. 15, 2015, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; daughter Lynda; and siblings, Ella Feltch, Lola Winn, Glenn Lee, William Lee, George Lee, Edna Paulos and Betty Caldwell.
Mary is survived by: her children, Mike (Beverlee) Patton and Jerry (Loretta) Patton; a brother, Lynn Lee; a sister, Joann (Jim) Mitchell; grandchildren, Curtina (Adrien) Bradshaw, Lindsay (Jerry) Blankenship, Kristen Patton, Kimberly (Chad) Filner, Melody (Wes) Seamons; and several great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rangely District Hospital for the loving care they gave Mary.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at the Rangely LDS Chapel. Friends and family called at the chapel from 9:30 to 10:45 p.m., prior to the services. Burial was in Rangely Cemetery.
