Mary Ann Cook Copeland was born June 5, 1947, in Meeker, Colo., and she passed away on Nov. 15, 2013, surrounded by family in Meeker and at the Walbridge Wing.
Mary Ann was the youngest of 13 children born to Robert James and Daisy Margaret Cook.
Mary Ann spent her childhood in Meeker and then came to make her home there as well.
She married Alan Cook of Rangely in 1947, and they had two daughters, Kelly Dawn Gentry and Angela Marie McCandles.
Later Mary Ann would go on to marry John Copeland in 1992. John later passed away.
Mary Ann loved fishing, camping and the outdoors almost as much as her best friend and late life companion Curtis (Bud) Duffy.
She also enjoyed collecting unique antiques.
Mary Ann had a strong compassion for people. She always made everyone feel welcome and comfortable in any setting. During her time working at the cafes and at Watts Market, she met many people, and she never forgot a face. She always had a smile to share, a hand to lend and an ear to listen.
Mary Ann is survived by: her daughters Kelly Gentry of Utah and Angela McCandles of Ohio; two grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy O’Brien and Sal Ridings; and two brothers, Tom (Beverly) Cook, and Jim (Patty) Cook.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Daisy Cook, and her second husband, John Copeland, and third husband, Curtis (Bud) Duffy as well as her brothers, Roy, Charlie, Sam and Fuzz; and her sisters, Carol Mae, Sue Sutton, Lois Downey and Peg Burke.
Mary Ann requested that no services be held and that her ashes be spread in one of her favorite outdoor spaces.
