Mary Glasgow
Feb. 8, 1924~Dec. 17, 2008
Lifelong Meeker resident Mary M. Glasgow, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Pioneers Hospital.
Mary was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Fruita, and following the death of her mother was adopted as an infant into the loving home of Frank and Martha (Hossack) Gibbons. Mary was raised in Meeker, graduating from Rio Blanco County High School.
On Sept. 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Glen Glasgow in Glenwood Springs. The couple has made their home in Meeker where Mary worked for Robert D. White at the Rio Blanco County Abstract Office in combination with the Rio Blanco County Courts.
Mary was an excellent cook and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed arts and crafts of all sorts and was a voracious reader. Her favorite poem was the following:
Nobody Knows It But Me
There’s a place that I travel
When I want to roam
And nobody knows it but me.
The roads don’t go there
And the signs stay home
And nobody knows it but me.
It’s far far away
And way way afar
It’s over the moon and the sea
And wherever you’re going
That’s wherever you are
And nobody knows it but me.
— Patrick O’Leary
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Glen of the family home; two children, Greg Glasgow and Gayle Stewart and her husband Theo, all of Meeker; as well as her grandchildren Ryan and Amy Stewart of Grand Junction.
At Mary’s request no services will be held. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Highland Cemetery Memorial Garden through Cochran Memorial Chapel which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
