Mary Jeannette Price of Meeker, Colo., passed away June 16, 2013, in Wheat Ridge, Colo., after a long battle with cancer.
Visitation was held at Grant Mortuary in Meeker on June 24 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at at 11 a.m. in Highland Cemetery with Merv Johnson of Meeker Christian Church officiating. Grant Mortuary is handling the funeral arrangements.
Jeannette was born in Wilmington, Del., to Robert and Anna Lawrence on May 3, 1925. She attended John Bartram High School and graduated in 1943. She went on to work at Kresge’s, where she met Joe Daneker. They were married in 1946 in Arizona and had four children. She later married Charles Price in 1964, when his work took him to Wyoming. When he retired, they moved to Safford, Ariz., until his death in 1991. Wanting to be close to family, she moved to Meeker in 1992.
Jeannette volunteered 20 hours a week for 15 years with Rio Blanco County Social Services. She attended Meeker Christian Church and enjoyed visiting with the many friends she made at the local Chuckwagon.
She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, various crafts and collecting stamps, buttons and post cards. She also loved being around people and traveling.
Knowing her terminal status, she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law in Arvada.
Jeannette is survived by: one brother, David Lawrence of Gilroy, Calif.; two half-brothers, Robert (Judy) Lawrence of Easton, Md., and Richard (Mary) Lawrence of Temecula, Calif.; one half-sister, Carol (Ronald) of Brookville, Ind.; two sons, Joe (Susan) Daneker Jr. of Douglas, Ariz., and Tom (Elizabeth) Daneker of Midland, Texas; two daughters, Nancy (Jim) Harris of Meeker, and Juanita (Jake) Ridgeway of Arvada, Colo.; as well as Michaele Daneker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Jeannette’s parents, Robert and Anna Lawrence, husband Charles (Chuck) Price and one brother, Robert, preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chuckwagon, 345 Market St., Meeker, Colo., in memory of Jeannette Price.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Lutheran Palliative Care and Hospice Center for their support and excellent care during Jeannette’s her final days.
