M.L. (Barney) Oldham, 88, passed away May 22, 2009, at Palmyra Nursing Home, Albany, Ga. He will be buried in Andersonville National Cemetery.
A past resident of Rangely and Fruita, Barney had recently resided in Checotah, Okla., before moving to Albany this past year. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been awarded a Bronze Star for heroism at Normandy on D-Day. he was District Commander of the VFW in Grand Junction, and most recently was a member of VFW post 7624 in Checotah, Okla. He was an elder of the LDS Church.
Survivors include his wife Nadine Oldham of Albany, Ga.; four children, Kent Oldham of Grand Junction, Kerry Ildham Kendal of Willington, Colo., Bill Shelton of Kingman, Ariz., and LaVern Shelton Johnson of Albany, Ga.; two brothers, Howard and Norman Gardner and one sister, Wilda Mae Wefford; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
