Lifetime Rio Blanco County resident Muriel Devereaux was taken from us by her Lord on Feb. 23, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born to Emanuel and Leona Thompson in Carbondale, Colo., on Sept. 28, 1927. She was graduated from Meeker High School in 1946. She was married to the late Charles Devereaux for a lifetime.
She has five children: Allen Maybury, Thomas Maybury, Lois Maybury (Daniel) Tibbs, Kenneth Maybury and Loren (Laura) Maybury; 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She has five sisters: Melba Ester, Lois Weis, Pauline Lathrum, Phylis Phillips and Nancy Elliott. She also had three brothers: Larry, Vernon and James.
Muriel loved the country, nature, books, music, antiques, cooking and crocheting.
She was superintendent of flowers for the county fair for many years and also judged flowers for the Moffat County Fair. She also taught an edible plants class for the NWCC Outreach Program.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Devereaux, her parents, one sister and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Meeker Methodist Church. Interment followed in Highland Cemetery.
She will be missed by all who knew her. She had a long and fulfilling life, leaving lots of memories to carry us through until we see her again in the hereafter. God bless her and God bless us all.
