Oliver Diemoz of Silt, Colo., born April 13, 1913, passed away Feb. 15, 2011, at Crossroads Assisted Living in Rifle, Colo., where he resided for more than a year.
Oliver was the youngest son of Felix and Marie (Creton) Diemoz. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 97.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marian of 52 years, daughter Kay and his six siblings.
He spent his life as a proud farmer and rancher in the Silt area. In 1971 Oliver retired and he and Marian did some traveling and snow machining until Marian’s passing.
After that, Oliver tended his flower garden and late summer and fall would find him standing in the road giving flowers and grapes to passersby.
Oliver spent 16 years as a school board member at the Silt Union School.
Survivors include his daughter Marjorie (Joe) Alessandri of Silt; son Ronald (Oneta) Diemoz of Pahrump, Nev.; granddaughters Tammy (Alan) Hangs of Silt; Jody (Mike) Jester of McCaskill, Ark.; grandson Terry (Tonya) Gambrel of New Castle; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Brittni and Kali.
Arrangements by Rio Blanco Funeral Home of Meeker. Services will be held at the LDS church in Rifle, Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at 2 p.m., with burial at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Crossroads Assisted Living in Rifle or to Advocate Safe House in Glenwood Springs.
