Well-known Meeker veteran, poet and historian Orval LaBorde died early Saturday morning, Dec. 27, 2008, at Pioneers Hospital.
A native of Hugo, Colo., Orval was born Oct. 8, 1922. A resident of Meeker since 1973, Orval is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, one granddaughter, Bonnie Leigh Hale, as well as his parents and siblings.
Cremation has been chosen and a memorial service will honor his life and service to his country this spring. Friends may make memorial contributions to the Rio Blanco County Historical Society through Cochran Memorial Chapel which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
