Obituary: Paul Randolph Nold

Paul Nold
Paul Nold
Paul Randolph Nold passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 1, 2014. He was 48.

Paul was a long-time and well-known resident of Meeker. He first visited the area as a young teenager and moved to Meeker full time in 1992.
Paul was born in the City of Orange, Calif., the only child of Randy and Diana Nold. His father was in the Marines and served in the Vietnam War. With his father at war, Paul and his mother settled with family in Arvada, Colo. He spent most of his childhood in the Denver area, graduating from Pomona High School in 1984.
During his teenaged years, Paul began visiting his uncle and aunt, Steve and Debby Wix, in Meeker. He would visit them at their family guest ranch, Sleepy Cat. Paul helped around the ranch, washing dishes and other odd jobs.
Over time, his uncle Steve taught him how to cook, and Paul spent many years working at Sleepy Cat’s popular restaurant.
While working at Sleepy Cat, Paul met his future wife, Kristiana Neil. The two dated for several years and were married at a big ceremony at Sleepy Cat in 1995. Paul left Sleepy Cat in the late 1990s and worked as a cook at several local restaurants, including The Meeker Cafe and The Rustic. He also worked for the local school district as well as being a butcher at Watts.
Paul was active in the community. He coached in the Youth Soccer League, volunteered for the Destination Imagination extracurricular activity at Meeker Elementary School and he cooked Thanksgiving dinners at Holy Family Catholic Church for many years.
Paul had many interests and talents. He loved cooking for friends and family, was an avid fisherman, enjoyed taking his family camping and fishing and even took tap dance classes with his wife and kids.
Paul is survived by: his wife, Kristiana; a son, Zachary; a daughter, Aulyvia of Meeker; his father, Randy Nold of New Port Richey, Fla.; his mother, Diana Nold of Aurora, Colo.; his father- and mother-in law, Larry and Diana Neil of Eckert; his brother- and sister-in-law, Blake and Kimberly Eilman of Cedaredge; his uncle Steve and aunt Debby Wix of Meeker; his uncle Richard and aunt Rita Shepard of Arvada; his aunt Jacqueline Mohlman of Fort Collins; his aunt Laura Glossip of San Diego; and numerous cousins.
