Meeker resident Penny Melissa Scott died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Pioneers Medical Center in Meeker. She was 70. A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Highland Cemetery in Meeker.
Penny Melissa (Fisher) Scott was born on Nov. 26, 1946, in Danbury, Conn. She spent her childhood and attended public schools in Danbury. Penny furthered her education at Danbury Hospital where she earned her training as an X-ray technician.
Penny moved to Meeker in 1991. She began her career at Pioneers Medical Center in 1994 in the radiology department. She loved taking care of patients and made many friends during her career. In January 2011, Penny retired to spend more time with her family.
Penny enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, singing and traveling. She was a member of the Church at Meeker and sang in the Meeker Community Choir for many years. Above all, Penny loved and cherished her family.
Penny is survived by her mother, Clara Silkman of Cummings, Ga.; her five children and their spouses: Brad (Eufmia) Dillon of Grand Junction, Christine (Wade) Allred of Rangely, Kelly (Nate) Reuss of Grand Junction, Billie (Bob) Rogers of Craig and Thomas (Chelsea) O’Conor of Grand Junction; five siblings: Thomas “Skip” Fisher, Neil Silkman, Glenn Silkman, Claude Silkman and Holly Brunner; and a sister-in-love, Terry Fisher. Penny is further survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Penny was preceded in death by two husbands: Larry Ray O’Conor and Wallace Scott.
