Robert “Bob” D. McCoy passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, following a valiant battle with cancer. He was born May 29, 1936, in Dublin, Ohio, to the late Jim and Naomi McCoy.
Bob is preceded in death by his oldest son, Jeff McCoy, and step-grandson, Jason Palma. Survived by his wife of 56-1/2 years Sally (Brust) McCoy; son James (Bonnie) McCoy; and daughter Sally (Tim) Brink. A special appreciation goes to Bob’s big sis’, Martha Brown, and brother-in-law, Joe Brown. Bob is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Jamie (Kasey) Hall, Justin (Erin) McCoy, Whitney (Dave) Smith, Chelsea Brink, Griffin Brink, Ell McCoy and Cole McCoy. Bob also had two step-great-grandchildren, Bella and Owen, and great-granddaughter Lenni Smith, plus many nieces and nephews.
Bob was a 1954 graduate of Dublin High School, then went on to put himself through school to obtain his surveyor’s license while raising his family. Ultimately, he became co-owner of Dodson-Lindblom and Associates (Currently DLZ, Inc.) where he worked until his retirement. During the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, he was simultaneously the director of Dublin Cemetery, Dublin building inspector and served on the Dublin Village Council. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, skier, golfer and snowmobiler, and was able to thoroughly enjoy his retirement through extensive travel all over the world with his wife, Sally.
A visitation was held for family and friends on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Dublin Cemetery in Dublin, Ohio.
