Robert E. Ridgeway

Robert E. Ridgeway, 72, of Meeker died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Pioneers Medical Center.
Bob was born March 15, 1936, in Meeker, one of 13 children born to William Oscar and Eva Irene (Kendall) Ridgeway. He was raised and attended school in Meeker until he entered the United States Army, serving as a clerk in Japan.
Following his discharge, Bob worked as a roughneck in the oil fields and also learned to fly, working as a crop duster as well as operating an air taxi service in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
For many years Bob spent his winters in Las Vegas, Nev., where he worked as a slot machine technician and later a card dealer, but always returned to Meeker for the summers. He spent several years in Laughlin, Nev., until ill health brought him home to Meeker last June.
Bob loved to hunt and fish and spend time on his boat but especially loved a good card game.
Survivors include his step-children, Rick Dade of Meeker, Jeanette Mulquin of Phoenix, Sheryl Brock of Prescott, Ariz., Thelma Dade of Keystone, S.D., Robin Florez of Phoenix; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Virginia Bolles of Denver, Roberta Cook of Meeker, Sherry Howell of Pampa, Texas, Laura Sue Montique of Black Foot, Idaho, four brothers, Harold Ridgeway of Brush, Fenton Ridgeway of Denver, Kenneth “Ace” Ridgeway of Meeker and Gordon Ridgeway of Albuquerque, N.M.
His parents; one sister, Betty Campbell; and three brothers, Jimmy Ridgeway, Donnie Ridgeway and Bill Ridgeway have preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from the Christ Reformed Church in Meeker. Military honors will be provided by V.F.W. Post No. 5843 at the Highland Cemetery following the services.
Friends may make memorial contributions to the Bob Ridgeway Memorial Fund in care of Cochran Memorial Chapel which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
