Robert “Bob” G. Wright, age 80, of Grand Junction passed away peacefully at his home on July 28, 2009.
Bob was born in Morapos to Howard McCellan Wright and Hildur Louise Johnson. He spent all his school years in Craig. In 1948, Bob started work at Larson Transportation and was with them until 1954. From there, he went to Texaco in Rangely until 1957. When they unitized, he went to Chevron. Bob was with Chevron until he retired in 1986. He was a sports enthusiast and upon retirement said, “Let the games begin.”
He married Maudeen Zabel in Hayden on Feb. 27, 1954. They celebrated 55 wonderful years together. Bob was a very gentle, compassionate and loving man. He was a beloved husband, dad and “Papa.” Bob is survived by his loving wife, Maudeen; children, Connie (Mike) Smith; Karen Kraft and Craig (Jana) Wright; grandchildren, Lyndsay Francies, Ryan Smith, Ben Kraft, Sarah Matrisciano, Jordan Kraft, Travis Wright, Bailey Wright, Keith Hawkins and Corey Wright; three great-grandchildren, Parker and Bryce Matrisciano and Avery Smith; and a sister, Ruth Seick.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dick and Sonny; and sisters, Dorothy Newsom, Grace Lemmon and Betty More.
Cremation took place and memorial services were held on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Northeast Christian Church. Memorial donations may be sent to the church in Bob’s honor. Callahan-Edfast Mortuary was in charge of arrangements
