Rosia Ann Sterry was born Nov. 4, 1934, in Meeker, the 13th of 14 children born to Earl and Laura (Lofland) Sterry. She attended school in Meeker and on Feb. 16, 1951, she was united in marriage in Meeker to Leland H. Peters. They traveled to Wyoming for a honeymoon. To their union four children were born: Calvin, Carol, Anita and Bonnie.
For many years, Rose worked as a waitress and cook in Meeker as well as working as a nurse’s aide at Pioneers Hospital. In 1966, the family purchased Joy Motor Parts that they operated until October 1994.
In 1985, Leland preceded Rose in death and she later married Preston Amick, their marriage ended in divorce.
Rose loved being outdoors, fishing, camping, gardening and working in her flower beds. She particularly loved traveling and if the journey included a little gambling the trip was all the better. She loved dogs and cared for any stray or injured dog that happened her way. After moving to the Pines she spent a great deal of time doing beadwork and feeding the many squirrels. Her greatest joy was her family and she loved spending time taking in their many activities.
Survivors include two children, Calvin Peters of Branch, Mich., Anita Rose Peters of Meeker, one brother, Ralph (Linda) Sterry of Grand Junction; four grandchildren, Charity Peters, Shannon Faulhaber, William Faulhaber and Roseanna Caulfield; three step-grandchildren, Frank Faulhaber IV, Linda Garcia and Eugenia Sterry, as well as five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces of nephews.
In addition to her husband, Leland, Rose is preceded in death by two daughters, Carol and Bonnie, and a great-granddaughter, Miranda Faulhaber.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association through Cochran Memorial Chapel which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
