A lifetime resident of Rio Blanco County and upper White River Valley, Sally Sizemore passed away late Sunday evening May 6, 2012, in Pioneers Hospital.
Sarah “Sally” Ellen Jacqueline Sheridan was born in Meeker, Colo., May 26, 1922, to parents James Wash and Iva Hildreth (Garrison) Sheridan, the youngest of five children. She attended Meeker schools graduating from Meeker High School in 1940. From there she enrolled at Denver University taking classes in liberal arts and business. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and an active participant in all sorority functions. Sally returned to Meeker from college and took a job teaching school at the Coal Creek School where she taught for the next three years.
Sally married her high school sweetheart, Roy Charles Sizemore, on June 5, 1943. Constant friends and companions, Roy and Sally celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to Roy’s death in 2003.They had four children: Suzanne Jones and her husband Terry of Arizona; Charlotte Mobley of Meeker; Francelle Robinson and her husband Lee of Wyoming; Mike Sizemore and his wife Kathy of Meeker. Nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Sally enjoyed many hobbies and interests including needlepoint and quilting. She made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren that are unique to each person and full of cherished memories. She is greatly loved and will be missed by all her family and many lifelong friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy; son-in-law Alan Mobley; and grandson, James Oscar Sizemore. Interment took place at Highland Cemetery in Meeker, Colo.
