Tanya Toles, 62, passed away Oct. 28, 2014, at her home in Orem, Utah.
Born in Vernal, Utah, to Ruby Lea and John Toles, Tanya attended school in Utah and Colorado before graduating from Brigham Young University in special education.
Tanya worked for Alpine School District for 40 years as a teacher and then as director over in-service and special projects. She presented at district, state, and national conferences discussing best practices in education and precision teaching. She also trained new teachers for the district and coordinated testing for students with special needs.
Tanya was a recipient of Alpine District’s Teacher Award of Excellence. She inspired greatness in both students and staff.
Tanya loved to travel and has been across Europe, to Vancouver, and throughout the U.S., including Hawaii. She had a great love for her family and often took them on her adventures.
She loved experimenting in the kitchen. Although she owned a plethora of cookbooks, she preferred creating new wonderful dishes.
Tanya was extremely creative in everything she did. She painted using watercolors and tole paints.
Tanya is survived by: her mother, Ruby Lea Toles; her siblings, Susan (Mike) Killpack of Idaho and Mike (Robin) Toles of Nevada; nieces and nephews, Logan (Rebecca), Mikayla, Tory, Chris (Kristi), Katie (Thomas), Stefanie, and their children: Ellie, Mia, and John, as well as many friends who loved and cherished times spent with her.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at the LDS chapel in Orem. In lieu of a viewing, the family was at the chapel from 10 to 11 a.m. to meet with friends.
