MEEKER | Thomas J. “Tommy Joe” Sturgeon, 68, of Dinosaur died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Rangely District Hospital.
Mr. Sturgeon was born March 29, 1941, in Checotah, Okla., the son of Joseph H. and Marie (Utley) Sturgeon. He worked for many years as a coal miner.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanetta, of the family home on Blue Mountain, four sons, Leroy Duff and his wife Jeannie of Booneville, Ark., Joseph Henderson and his wife LeeAnna of Clayton, Okla., Glen Thomas “Bubba” Sturgeon and his wife Michele of Clayton, Okla., and Jason David Smith of Canadian, Okla., one daughter, Lisa Stoner and her husband Greg of Tulsa, Okla., his grandchildren, Amanda Parker, Trey, Cora, Hannah and Kaci Sturgeon, Justin, Kali and Kaci Smith, one great-granddaughter, Ava Parker, as well as his brother Gene Sturgeon and two sisters, Marilyn Muth and Betty Nunley numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
A family memorial service has been held. Arrangements were entrusted to Cochran’s Rangely Mortuary.
