MEEKER I There will be an open house to celebrate Meeker’s inclusion in the Colorado Main Street program on Monday, Sept. 12 from 6-7 p.m. at Kilowatt Korner.
The Colorado Main Street Program follows the Main Street approach which includes organization, promotion, design and economic vitality. The program is designed to advocate and support a return to local empowerment, and the rebuilding of central business districts based on the traditional assets of each community’s unique architecture, character, and local ownership.
Johanna Jamison, economic development specialist for the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) and Shay Coburn, Main Street coordinator, will give a brief presentation on the basics of the program, its history, benefits and how the program works. Members of the Meeker Main Street Committee and program manager Stephanie Kobald will be present to answer questions and discuss what Meeker has accomplished thus far and ideas for the future.
