Opera at Parkview…

The Yampa Valley Opera Troupe from Steamboat Springs came to Parkview Elementary School in Rangely on Sept. 24 to perform for the entire school. The six-person (plus one) troupe performed an abbreviated and contemporary wild West operatic version of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” The traveling troupe consists of high school students from Steamboat Springs and Craig as well as a few adults who produce, direct and perform in the opera. The “plus one” cast member was Caleb Wiley, a Parkview second grader, recruited at the last minute by the director to play Baby Bear. Parkview students, faculty and a few parents in attendance enjoyed the opera immensely. They especially enjoyed the songs, the comedy and watching their classmate, Caleb, ham it up.
