RANGELY I The Rangely High School Panther boys’ basketball team only played one game last week, but it was against an intense Paonia Eagle team, losing the contest 53-35.
Rangely (2-5), will host Hotchkiss in another league game Friday and Caprock Academy on Saturday.
“We started out slow and didn’t match Paonia’s intensity on their home floor,” Rangely head coach Jeremy Cantrell said of the road game.
“I was pleased with the effort after that, but our goal was to win the game and we fell short.”
Senior Mitchell Webber led the Panthers with 13 points and fellow senior Colt Allred led the team with 11 rebounds. Senior Kelton Elam scored nine points, including one three-pointer, and Allred scored eight, freshman Patrick Scoggins had three and senior Freddie Ruiz added a basket.
“I’m excited about this weekend’s games, and I expect a strong week of practice, as we prepare for Hotchkiss at home on Friday and Caprock Academy on Saturday,” coach Cantrell said.
