Rangely High School was the site for the Panther Invitational wrestling tournament held last Saturday. Wrestlers from Rangely, Meeker, Rifle, New Castle, Parachute, Hotchkiss, Loma, Moffat County, Hayden, Vernal and Roosevelt attended the event.
Thirty-five wrestlers from Rangely competed in the tournament. Jaxon Torsell and Karver Lopez were Rangely’s two champions. Second place winners were Landon Carlson, Tyce Lucero, Dylan Smutz, Colton Stevens, Corbin Lucero, Bryon MacKay, Hunter Hanvey, Tytus Coombs, CJ Lucero and Anthony Martin. Third place winners were Bryce Willis, Kaden Austin, Declan Austin, Joseph McKay, Kolby Chism, Jedidiah Vanderwark, Cyris Gaylord, Anthony Dorris, Brody McElhaney and Cameron Filfred. Fourth place finishers were Damen Maybury, Landon Williams, Kasen LeBleu, Kelhin Meyers, Andrew Stack, Dontea Pearce, Gobe Polley and Justin Rusher. Wrestling but not placing this week were Wyatt Wiley, Joshua Dunn, Max Stout, Tim Stieb and Caleb Urie.
This week the team will wrestle in Hayden at the Tiger invitational. For the first tournament of the year, they wrestled well. All they can do is to keep working hard and improving each week.
A special thanks to all the parents and tournament helpers for a successful tournament.
