Panther wrestlers compete

RANGELY I The Rangely High School wrestling team traveled to Grand Junction to compete in the Colorado Mesa University duals and returned with one undefeated wrestler.
“This was our first action of the season and there were some good matches but I saw some things we need to correct,” second-year head coach Derek Stolworthy said.
The Panthers have eight wrestlers out for the team. Seven wrestled in Grand Junction, making it difficult to win dual meets with six or seven open weights.
“Our focus is to be competitive and get better each week,” Stolworthy said.
Rangely heavyweight senior Patrick Brown was the only Panther to win all five of his matches. Colton Coombs (152) and Jake Smith (182) each won four matches and lost one in their respective weights. Michael Parker went 3-2 at 195 and Heath Peters won two and lost three at 106. Sophomore Lucas Heinle won one match at 138 and Chance Peters found the competition tough, losing all five matches at 145.
The Panthers will wrestle more duals in Roosevelt, Utah, Friday.
