RANGELY | Last Friday the Panthers traveled to Dove Creek, Colo., to take on the DC Bulldogs. The Panthers came out of the gate a little sluggish from the long trip, going three and out in the first offensive series and then fumbling in the second offensive series. The Panthers did play great defense and made the Bulldogs go three and out two times as well. After that the Panthers bore down on a 51-6 first half run.
Scoring started with a 58 yard pass from Drew Brannon to Tytus Coombs but the conversion was no good. Scoring resumed with three more touchdown passes from Drew Brannon to Trenton Files, Devin Ramirez and Tristan Moore. Tytus Coombs also rushed for two touchdowns. Keighlin Myers capped off the half with a touchdown pass to RJ Richens from about 10 yards out.
The Panthers continued into the second half strong with one more scoring touchdown pass from Keihlin Myers to RJ Richens again for a 57-18 win for Rangely.
The Panthers take on the Del Norte Tigers Saturday at home at 2 p.m. Please come out and support them.
JV took on Cortez’s JV team in a Saturday matchup that was hard fought in an 8-11 battle. The Panthers had a hard time adjusting to the 11-man defensive scheme giving up some big plays in the passing game. The Panthers were defeated by Cortez 48-18 with touchdowns from Zane Varner and RJ Richens. The JV Panthers have the week off.
