Panthers developing track talent

RANGELY I The Rangely High School track team has 24 athletes out this season, including four dual sport athletes sharing time between soccer and baseball, and four with state track experience.
“Though we have a decent bank of upperclassmen, we are pretty young this year and look strong in developing a lot of freshman and sophomore talent,” track coach Cody Brunton said.
The Panthers will be led by seniors Connor Phelan, Andrew Morton, Aimee Hogan and Tessa Slagle. Phelan, Morton, juniors Mitchell Webber and Colt Allred all return with state meet experience.
Rangely has attended three meets so far, including a JV meet in Rifle, which Brunton called a “great low stress, warm-up meet,” the Mickey Dunn Invitational in Grand Junction and Cedaredge on Saturday.
“As a whole, we are steadily progressing each week, with a majority of our team getting personal bests in each event,” Brunton said.
The Panthers will compete in the Palisade Bulldog Invitational this weekend in Grand Junction and coach Brunton is looking forward to “good weather, lots of fast times and big distances,” from the Panthers.
