RANGELY | The Rangely Panther football team lost on the road last week to Gilpin County and will host the Plateau Valley Cowboys in the final game of the season on Yaeger Field this Friday. The Panthers fell behind early in Blackhawk and could not put any points on the board, losing 52-0. Rangely senior Troy Allred completed four of 10 passes for 79 yards, which was about the same amount the Panthers gained on the ground. A.J. Lujan caught a pass for a 32 yard gain and he carried the ball five times for another 25 yards. Sophomore classmate Tristan Moore also caught a pass for nine yards and he gained seven on the ground. Mickey Sheppard caught two of Allred’s passes for 38 yards and Tytus Coombs rushed for nine yards on four carries. Allred ran with the ball 20 times and gained 36 yards. Rangely sophomore Grady Nielsen led the young Panthers in tackles with 11, classmate Trenton Files had six, Lujan and Moore, each recorded five. The Panthers, who won their first two games, will have a 2-6 record overall when they host the Cowboys, who currently have a 5-3 record. The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
