RANGELY I Four Panther wrestlers are headed to state.
Rangely Junior High had four placers — including one first-place finisher — at last week’s regional tournament in Fruita, earning them a trip to the state tourney in Denver.
Placing for RJH were Heath Peters, who placed first at 75 pounds, while Trevor Brown was third at 145, Ryan Wilczek fifth at 155 and Blade Rose sixth at 75.
“Some of our guys who didn’t place had a tough weight bracket,” said Derek Stolworthy, RJH coach. “But we did OK. If we keep our kids staying in the sport, then in a few years, Rangely High School will be looking good.”
The state tournament starts with weigh-in on Friday afternoon.
“We start wrestling immediately after the weigh-in,” Stolworthy said. “Then the tournament will go through Saturday afternoon or evening.”
