MEEKER I The ERBM Recreation and Park District partnered with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) and the Bureau of Land Management White River Field Office on the area’s first VOC Trial construction project. Local and volunteers from across the state of Colorado gathered to complete approximately 1,000 feet of trail from the China Wall Meadow to the regional high point overlooking the town of Meeker and the White River Valley.
“The district would like to thank all of the volunteers that made this project possible, as well as Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and the BLM White River Field Office,” Michael Weinbrecht, ERBM executive director, said.
BLM outdoor recreation planner Chad Schneckenburger was also complimentary of the partnership created to complete the trail to the top of China Wall saying, “The BLM White River Field Office is very happy that we were able to partner in seeing this trail completed. Not only will it be a great amenity for the community of Meeker, but it also is consistent with our commitment to providing a variety of recreational opportunities on public lands. We would especially like to thank the Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation District for their hard work and support in making this trail a reality, and particularly we would like to thank Mike Weinbrecht for his leadership in pulling all the pieces together to make this happen.”
