RANGELY | The Rangely Junior High School wrestling team had a busy week of wrestling this past week. They traveled to Meeker and had a triangular meet with both Moffat County and Meeker.
“In our first dual with Moffat County I thought we wrestled aggressively,” said coach Jeff LeBleu.
Winning matches for the Panthers were Mariah Hensen, Braxton Moore, Jaxon Torsell, Kasen LeBleu, Zane Varner and Dontea Pearce.
“After a long wait the Panthers dualed Meeker and we just flat out got it handed to us. Dontea Pearce was the only Panther to win his match,” LeBleu said.
Saturday the Panthers left town early and headed to Kremmling, where LeBleu said, “We wrestled much better most of the day.”
Champions Saturday were Kobey Chism (90), Dontea Pearce (140) and Zane Varner (150). Pearce remains the Panthers lone undefeated wrestler, his record stands at 10-0. Placing second were Anthony Dorris (85) and Braxton Moore (95). placing third was Jaxon Torsell and placing fourth was Kasen LeBleu. Mariah Hensen (90) and Brent Cantrell (150) both were one match away from placing. Chase Dowlen (125) is a first year wrestler who works very hard in practice and is getting better each week, “Chase will be leaving us after next week, we wish him the best of luck in Kentucky and I hope he continues wrestling,” LeBleu said.
The team competes in Soroco this week and next week Rangely will host the season ending tournament. “The team would like to thank all of the parents and grandparents for traveling and supporting the team, and also to Dalton Dembowski for helping us out,” LeBleu said.
