Deana Wood, left, and Katie Lockwood, right, presented a $1,000 check to the Meeker Animal Shelter’s spay and neuter fund.
The girls learned that spayed and neutered dogs were more likely to be adopted, so they created “Pennies for Puppies” to raise funds for the vet clinic to spay and neuter adoptable dogs. Many Meeker businesses allowed them to put out jars to collect change. They also had booths at Meekerpalooza and Range Call. One Range Call visitor put a $100 bill in the collection jar.
