MEEKER | Reese Pertile, along with senior classmates Halle Ahrens and Maggie Phelan and sophomore Megan Shelton were all recently honored by the Western Slope League, while Pertile was also honored by Colorado coaches as she was chosen to play in the 2A Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports all-state game.
Pertile and Shelton were named to the first team of the Western Slope League’s all-conference selections, while Ahrens and Phelan was honorably mentioned by the league.
Pertile led the team in scoring (355 points), averaging 14.8 points per game and she pulled down 229 rebounds, four less than team leader Shelton. Shelton averaged 11.5 points per game and led the team with 2.6 assists per game and 3.8 steals.
Ahrens and Phelan both averaged 3.2 steals, while Ahrens averaged 9.1 points per game and Phelan averaged 6.5.
The four players helped Meeker finish second in the league to Paonia, who won the 2A state championship this year and post season play to the round of Sweet 16.
Meeker girls’ coach Jamie Rogers traveled to Denver to watch Pertile play in the all-state game at Arvada West High School, where the Cowboy senior scored 13 points for the winning team.
“We were excited Reese was chosen to play,” Coach Rogers said. “Reese has proven all season how good she is and she fit right in with the other players.”
