Pioneers launches new funding drive for hospital

MEEKER I This next year, the Pioneers Healthcare Foundation (PHF) will be working hard to gather the resources to add enhanced services at the new Pioneers Medical Center.
The new medical center will carry forward the existing services of the health clinic, the hospital and emergency services and the Walbridge Wing.

However, the foundation has set a goal to raise almost $2 million dollars to support the following:
■ Chemotherapy and infusion care: Pharmacy department expansion including specialized equipment to allow for chemotherapy capabilities, infusion treatments, pain management support and on-site prescription mixing.
■ Flexible, private rooms: Adaptable to address unique needs like isolation, bariatric or hospice care.
■ Physical and occupational therapy resources: Such as kitchen and bathroom learning centers, swing beds and stroke recovery support.
■ Industry-specific services: Including a hazard decontamination area in the emergency room and resources for cardiac stress testing, hearing testing, new employee physicals and workers’ compensation exams.
■ An expanded Meeker Family Health Center: Additional private exam rooms, three procedure rooms and an area dedicated to pediatric patients and their families.
■ The Walbridge Memorial Wing: Designed to help aging members of our community stay in a comfortable, home-like environment that offers 30 private rooms, multiple living and gathering spaces, a dining room with a baking center and garden areas with raised planters.
Pioneers Medical Center has planned a highly functional medical facility that will replicate the current services it offers. However, there are needs and opportunities to provide more local care.
Pioneers Healthcare Foundation is the avenue to develop resources to strengthen and enhance our local healthcare capabilities.
“We appreciate the generosity the Meeker community always extends, and we recognize that this medical facility is for every member of our community,” said Margie Joy, executive director of Pioneers Healthcare Foundation. “We will be working with private and corporate foundations to secure grants as well as private donations. Every dollar makes a difference; no donation is too small.”
Earlier this month, WPX Energy kick-started the campaign with a generous donation of $25,000.
“We are grateful to WPX for their commitment to local healthcare,” Joy said.
Pioneers Healthcare Foundation is challenging everyone to tap into your pioneering spirit and to support the next evolution of Pioneers Medical Center.
There are many ways you can help sustain and build quality healthcare in our home town:
■ Give a cash donation to support infrastructure or technology improvements, to bolster a hospital service line (like physical therapy or pediatrics) or to help fund safety additions, such as patient lifts, hazardous decontamination areas and isolation rooms.
■ Sponsor an exam room, private in-patient suite, a Walbridge Wing residence room or a conference area.
■ Sponsor long-term care amenities, like living and dining areas, a garden or the Walbridge Wing salon.
■ Donate in honor of a loved one to support a specific care area, like chemotherapy or infusion services (pharmacy), pediatrics, emergency services, surgical services and patient therapies.
■ Bequeath a gift to provide ongoing support annually or to fund a major project, such as a surgical suite, or the helipad.
All donors will be recognized throughout the new medical facility. Donors, gifts and honored loved ones will be recognized through the art and landscaping, and garden areas of the facility.
