Police officer put on paid leave after shooting at motel

MEEKER — A Meeker police officer shot and killed a local man during an incident at a local motel March 28.
According to a press release from Meeker Town Administrator Sharon Day, Lt. Glenn Wilson responded to a domestic disturbance call and was involved in a shooting incident with Christopher Anthony Boudreaux, 35, of Meeker, at the Valley Motel at approximately 5:45 a.m.
According to Rio Blanco County Coroner Ran Cochran, Boudreaux died at the scene from a single gunshot to the chest.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was contacted by the Meeker Police Department to investigate the shooting incident involving the Meeker police officer.
The town and county have been tight-lipped about the incident, releasing a minimal amount of information about the incident.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was filed by the Herald Times Monday and was presented to Day and Meeker Chief of Police Bob Hervey asking for specific information from the incident including the name of the officer involved and information regarding the deceased male.
The newspaper has also filed a FOIA with the sheriff’s office asking for a copy of the 911 call or a transcript.
An updated press release issued April 1 from the town identified the officer as Lt. Wilson. He has been placed on administrative leave with pay, pending the results of the investigation.
Boudreaux, originally from Louisiana, and Jason Charlet purchased the Valley Motel in August of 2007. Boudreaux, along with his wife and two children, lived on site and managed the motel.
“I’ve known him all my life,” Charlet said. “He was a good man, always willing to help and never asking anything in return.”
Boudreaux’s family has moved back to Louisiana and Charlet said he will try to sell the motel.
