MEEKER I The Meeker P.E.O. Chapter BA is an excited to share the creative talent of area quilt makers with everyone at its inaugural quilt show and bake sale. Quilts in the Country quilt show and bake sale will be Friday, Sept. 8 from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show will feature quilts from across Northwest Colorado. For generations quilting has been a way for women to share their stories, their talent and a sense of community. The “Quilts in the Country” show will share antique quilts, contemporary quilts and, of course, the cherished baby quilts, along with displays of local antiques. Quilting is a labor of love, with each quilt sharing a story of the quilter’s creative talents. The history of quilting fits in perfectly with the Meeker P.E.O. Chapter BA organization. P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women, educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. The Meeker P.E.O. Chapter BA annually supports local Meeker high school female graduates with the senior girls’ party at which time it awards several scholarships. Everyone is encouraged and welcome to come share in this unique showing of quilts from across Northwest Colorado. Proceeds go toward scholarships for local young women who pursue their highest aspirations. All proceeds from the quilt show and bake sale will support P.E.O. scholarship programs. The quilt show will include a people’s choice award and a raffle for a locally handcrafted quilt currently on display at Avis’ Village Floral.
