RANGELY I Colorado U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet announced Friday that the Rangely Airport has been awarded a $93,158 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
The federal grant will be used to create a long-range strategy to ensure aviation standards are met and plan for the airport’s future development.
“This grant will allow Rangely to prepare for future safety standards and for long-term development and growth,” Bennet said. “We’re pleased they were able to secure this funding.”
Bennet fought to include the AIP in the 2012 FAA Reauthorization. The program is designed to aid the development of public-use airports that make significant contributions to national and regional air transportation.
