Rangely baseball splits games

RBC | The Rangely High School baseball team traveled to Hotchkiss, Colo., to take on Dove Creek High School and Nucla High School on Friday. March 30. The Panthers came away victorious against the Bulldogs from Dove Creek by a score of 8-6.
Freshman Dylan LeBleu threw six full innings and earned his first high school career win by allowing four earned runs, striking out seven and only walking three batters. LeBleu continues to lead the Panthers on the mound in ERA, strikeouts and walks allowed.
Offensively the Panthers were led by sophomore Stetson Cudo as he went 3-4 on the day with three runs batted in. Along with Cudo, Tristan Moore has led the Panthers in batting average on the season as he continues to stay hot at the plate driving in runs and reaching base consistently.
In the second game the Panthers threw Cudo at Nucla and Cudo did an outstanding job though the Panthers were not able to come away with the win. Going into the top of the fourth inning the score was 3-2 in favor of Nucla as Cudo had the Mustangs off balance for the first three innings. A pair of fielding errors by the Panthers opened up the door for the Mustangs to go on an offensive attack and opened the game to a score of 11-2 by the end of the fourth inning. The Panthers ended up falling to the Mustangs by a score of 18-2 and the game ended in the fifth inning as a result of the 10-run rule.
The Panthers will travel to Paonia on Friday, April 7.
