RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers’ cross country team traveled to Basalt last Saturday for the Longhorn Invitational. The Rangely boys finished in fifth place. Rosalise Coombs, the Panther’s only female runner, is sidelined with a knee injury.
The boys’ team was lead by sophomore William Scoggins, who ran a personal best of 18:15 to finish second. Devin Williams dropped 3 minutes and 2 seconds from his race a week ago and finished in 19th place in a time of 20:12. Blake Wanstedt finished in 25th place with a time of 20:54. Tanner Nielsen ran a personal best and finished in 30th place with a time of 21:28. Finishing in 32nd place, first-year runner Justin Prosser, a senior, had a time 21:32. First-year and freshmen runners Conner Phelan and Cameron Enterline finished 38th and 50th, respectively, with times of 22:06 and 24:28.
The team next competes in Grand Junction on Friday.

Meeker only had two runners compete last Saturday. Joe McPhail, in his first race, placed 34th with a time of 21:42. And Bailey Atwood ran 23:00 and placed 47th. Lathrop Hughes did not compete because of a football injury.
