RANGELY — Prepare to get messy … and help a good cause at the same time.
Plans are under way for the Rangely Chamber of Commerce’s annual Crab Crack fundraising event.
“This is all you can eat crab, king crab, no less,” said Peggy Rector, chairwoman for the event. “James Stinson with Sodexo is fixing all the trimmings to go with the wonderful dinner.”
The Crab Crack will start at 6 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Colorado Room in the Weiss Building on the Colorado Northwestern Community College campus.
“The (Spartan Times) students will be serving the dinner, as well as being auctioned off to the highest bidder,” Rector said. “This money will be used for their annual convention. We are excited about the young people helping to serve as well as being auctioned off to earn money for their organization.”
Vocalist Angie Kenney will provide the entertainment.
Tickets for the event will go on sale soon, Rector said. The cost is $35 per person, or $200 for a table of six. Tickets will be available from Rebecca Hahn, chamber past president; Jane Miller of Quality Furniture, chamber president; First National Bank of the Rockies; Becky Dubbert, executive assistant/marketing coordinator at CNCC; the chamber office; and Rector.
There will also be a drawing for two door prizes — a spa basket and a food basket — each valued at $200. Door-prize tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
