Rangely celebrated the first annual Old Fashioned CommUNITY Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 7. The festivities included a short Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony on the 78th year anniversary of Japan’s attack on the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1941. Rio Blanco Veteran Services Representative John “Hoot” Gibson spoke about the events that fateful day and led a prayer prior to the lighting of the pine tree in front of Town Hall. Attendees sang “O’ Christmas Tree” along Main Street and in front of the Town Hall and afterward were invited to The Gathering (the renovated Ace-Hi building) to enjoy Christmas carols, refreshments and a visit from Santa Claus.
