The Rangely Community Gardens held its first farmers’ market last Tuesday featuring fresh cucumbers, radishes and squash available for “pick and pay.” More items – corn, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, bell and hot peppers grown on half of the property – will be available soon at the weekly farmers’ market, to be held every Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. According to Lisa Hatch, the market will be open Tuesday mornings for senior citizens and low income residents. Proceeds from the farmers’ market will be used to help sustain the Rangely Community Gardens. Everyone is invited to Open Garden Day Aug. 13, from 9 a.m., to 1 p.m., when founders Peggy Rector and Phyllis Henley will be recognized, as well as all the businesses and individuals who donated money, product or equipment.
