Rangely exploring four-day school week

RANGELY I The Rangely School Board will hold a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the junior/senior high auditorium to consider going to a four-day school week.
“We’re exploring it,” Superintendent Barry Williams said. “We would like to present what a four-day school week looks like. There are pros, there are cons. You want to make sure you tell the public and the parents all the information you’ve gathered. It’s not something we’re going to say we’re going to do, but we’re looking into it. Anything we can do to help students grow and achieve and be successful, then that’s what I’m looking at.”
Williams said there are 60 some school districts in Colorado that have gone to a four-day school week.
“A lot of them are lower (enrollment) count, rural school districts, like we are,” Williams said. “We’re not looking at this as a budget-type issue. We’re looking at it as an instructional issue.”
Williams said the issue has already been discussed with the Parent Advisory Committee.
