Tasha Gibson, a student in Rangely, competed in three Intercollegiate Horse Show Association shows while in Montana. She competed against the six other colleges and universities in the region, which consists of colleges from Utah, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.
“Needless to say, the odds were stacked against our small college,” said CNCC Program Director Miranda Morris, who accompanied Gibson. “But Tasha’s skill as a rider and a talented competitor placed her in the top of the placings in each of the classes she competed in.”
Saturday Morning Show Results: Open Horsemanship—first place; and Open Reining—fourth place.
Saturday Afternoon Show Results: Open Horsemanship—second place; Open Reining—fourth place.
Sunday Morning Show Results: Open Horsemanship—first place; Open Reining—second place.
Gibson was also Reserve High Point Open Rider on Saturday and High Point Open Rider on Sunday with the CNCC team finishing fourth on Saturday morning and third on Sunday.
“This is incredible as points are added from each competitor in each class,” Morris said. “Our ‘team’ had one rider competing in only two classes each day.
“The next smallest team competed with six riders,” Morris said. “Tasha managed to take home more first- and second- place ribbons than any other competitor at the show.”
