RANGELY I The Rangely Junior High School track team took 31 athletes to Craig for a meet Saturday, their second meet of the season. According to the coaches, the cool weather made for good performances and many of the athletes set personal bests in at least one of their events. Rangely will host a middle school meet Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. Seventh-grader Makenzie Cochrane won the discus and placed second in the shot put. KC Mercako placed third in the discus. Aspen Rhea, Jayleen Kenney, Phalon Osborn and Raelynn Norman finished second in the sprint medley relay. Zoey Peck, Kenney, Osborn and Bailey Stephens were fourth in the 4×100 relay. Rhea also finished fourth in the 100-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles and Stephens was third in the high jump.
7th Grade Girls: 100 hurdles: Aspen Rhea 4th 20.46; 100 dash: Aspen Rhea 4th 14.86; 200 dash: Phalon Osborn 31.36; 4×100 relay: Zoey Peck, Jayleen Kenney, Bailey Stephens and Phalon Osborn 4th; sprint medley relay: Aspen Rhea, Jayleen Kenney, Phalon Osborn and RaeLynn Norman, 2nd, 2:24.14; high jump: Bailey Stephens 3rd, 3-11; and long jump: Paityn Myers, 5th, 9-11.5. For the seventh-grade boys, Calvin Bishop, Tytus Coombs, Marcus Mercado and Cory Parker finished third in the 4×100 relay. Riley Boydstun won the discus throw while Parker and Del Gardner were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the same event. Eighth-grader Patrick Scoggins won the 200, 400 and triple jump events for his team while Brennan Noyes won the high jump, clearing 5-6.
Eighth-grader Brynn Buckles finished second in the girls’ shot put and finished fifth in the discus.
