RANGELY I The Rangely Junior High School football team started the season off Saturday in Oak Creek against Soroco Middle School. The Panthers left with a 20-0 loss to the Rams.
Offensively, the Panthers struggled to gain any momentum. On defense, the Panthers were able to keep the game close up until the fourth quarter.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Rangely teams was behind by a mere six points, trailing 6-0.
The lone touchdown of the game came on a punt return by Soroco.
In the fourth quarter, Anthony Lujan was able to keep the offense moving with first downs by running the football very aggressively. A fumble led the Panthers to stall on offense on their best drive of the game.
The Panthers will continue their season with a short practice week and a game today in Hayden against the Tigers, starting at 6 p.m.
Next week, the Panthers will open up their four-game home stand on Tuesday against the Craig Bulldogs. The Panthers hope to see everyone out to support them with the game starting at 5:30 p.m.
