RANGELY I On Aug. 28, the Rangely Junior High School Panther football team took on the Craig Middle School Bulldogs in Craig, winning their first contest of the season.
The Panthers emerged victorious with their first victory of their season, winning 22-6.
The Panthers were led on offense by running back Robert Osteen, who scored two touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and fullback Titus Coombs, who added another touchdown and two-point conversion.
Quarterback Devin Ramirez also converted a two-point conversion for the Panthers.
The Panthers’ defense proved to be tough in the red zone by stopping three drives by the Bulldogs within the Pather 20-yard line.
On the Bulldogs first trip to the red zone, the Panthers defense faced a four yards and goal.
On the play, Titus Coombs forced a fumble on the one yard line and Mark Mercado returned the fumble to the Panthers 48 yard line.
The Panthers’ season continues this week with an away game on Saturday against the North Park Wildcats in Walden, starting at 1 p.m.
