RANGELY | The Rangely junior high school team raced at Eagle Valley. The race was a combined girls and boys with a total of 197 runners.
“It was fun to see all those runners coming at once and such different sizes. It is encouraging to see that many middle schools running,” said coach Scoggins.
The Rangely team had their one lone girl and seven boys running. Eighth grader Macy Morgan came in with a time of 21:24 for 3,200 meters. Sixth grader Spencer Polley was the first for the boys to cross the line with a time of 16:16. Seventh grader Colin Zadra was the second boy to cross for a time of 17:03. Sixth grader Braxton Shaffer was right behind Zadra for a time of 17:24. Eighth grader Justin Allred hurt his knee during the race but finished with a time of 18:13. Next to cross was James Talbot who keeps getting better each week with a time of 21:04. Sixth grader Matthew Morgan kept his sister in sight but wasn’t able to beat her. He finished with a time of 22:13.
Both junior high and high school will not be running this weekend. The teams will be racing Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the SOROCO Invite and then again on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Moffat High School Invite.
