RANGELY I Individually, the Panthers wrestled well, with seven placers at last Saturday’s tournament in Meeker.
Team-wise, though, Rangely didn’t have the numbers, which has been the case all season.
“We did well, individually,” said coach Derek Stolworthy. “That’s pretty much the way it has been all season.”
First-place finishers for Rangely were Ketsen Rouse at 70 pounds, Heath Peters at 80, Trevor Brown at 145 and Ryan Wilczek at 155.
Finishing second for the Panthers at the Meeker tournament were Blade Rose at 75 pounds, Caleb Lawson at 115 and Lucas Heinle at 125.
Next up for Rangely is the regional tournament Saturday at Fruita.
“Instead of going to Steamboat (Springs for a tournament), all of our kids who are planning on wrestling this weekend have opted to go to regionals,” Stolworthy said. “Those who place at regionals — the top four — go to state.”
